Toffee Pops! Warriors!

Could you hear the noise coming from the Cornwall Park School hall on Wednesday morning?  It's surprising that it's still standing.

Two players from the Warriors, Patrick and Toafofoa Sipley joined us bringing their messages of health and fitness in a fun and interactive assembly.  Prizes, trivia and chanting were just some of things we tackled!

Marvelous Maths Mistakes

These young mathematicians are learning how to build their understanding by thinking, talking, explaining and justifying as they solve math problems. They worked together, made mistakes, learnt from each other, challenged each other as they came up with their solution.

Lessons From Piper

We are always looking for ways to develop our
GROWTH MINDSET!
To inspire us this week we watched the short film 'Piper' and discussed the lessons we could learn from this little bird.  Here is what we thought.

Nathan - 'Piper never gave up, even when he got soaked by the waves, he had another go.'

Violet - 'He didn't give up, he was hungry and really wanted to help the other birds.'

Maddison - 'He cared about the other birds.'

Sophia - 'He discovered something new when he tried out different strategies.'

Ahmed - 'He got used to the water.'

Amber - 'He persevered.'

Kyle - 'Piper buried himself in the sand, learning from the crab.'

Alyssia - 'You can do anything you want, you just need to try.'

Josephine - 'The crab shared ideas with Piper.'

Leo - 'Learnt to do something new by never giving up.'

Rebecca - 'He needed to solve the problem by himself.'

Tsukasa - 'He needed to get his own food.'

Pranvi - 'He started to enjoy the water.'

'His mum wanted him to solve the problem himself and become independent.

Our STEM rotation and the rollercoaster extravaganza came to an end on Friday afternoon.  The three jam packed afternoons showed off the collaborative problem solving skills of the year 3 and 4 learners in the Kauri team.

Take Two!

The second group of STEM engineers travelled to the roller coaster challenge.  What did they say about what they found tricky?

  • 'Connecting the straws to the cardboard.'
  • 'Adding support to the structure.'
  • 'Making sure the tracks let the ball roll without falling off.'
I wonder what today's engineers will face!

Butterfly Creek Adventures

What a fabulous day we had exploring the attractions at Butterfly Creek.  Hungry crocodiles, tarantulas, GIANT weta... dinosaurs!  And so much more.  It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves with the animals.

Check out more of our photos in our Butterfly Creek album.
